Winter #2
A great day! The weather was cold and clear. I put in a 3 turn track that aged an hour. I knew the exact ground positions of the turns so I could stand still previous to the turn give him line to work and follow him when he committed. He found all 3 turns and committed then I followed. The food drops are indicated on the track map. The short leg (55 yards) did not have a food drop. We both had a very happy walk back to the car!
Excellent! Are you using a short line or a 40’ one?
ReplyDeleteSent this reply early this AM but obviously not correctly so trying again here:
Delete40’ After MA’s help/encouragement I let him get to 20’ by the second flag. He tracked so well. It felt like it used to with Hamzah and Redman which may not make sense but I am so encouraged. At the turns (3) I made sure I knew exactly where the turn was (broken limb, etc) I kept my feet still and let him find and commit to the turn before moving off. I’m sure every day will not always be like yesterday but it was an amazing feeling! And a huge boost in confidence both in Otis and myself ;-)
i think her line is about 30. so i told her on turns she could play the line out, let him commit, then support THEN GET UP THE LINE TO 10 ft again. i don't want to take a chance of him drifting but i thought she needed to practice at turns.
ReplyDeleteemaline this sounds like he did really well.
