Tracking With Otis

 Wanted to continue to have a positive return to tracking after having 2 months off. Otis always enjoyed retrieving articles and the “article track” so I planned an article track with one turn for the big field at Panorama. After the first 2 articles I finally (!) realized/remembered I could/should be coming back up the line every time he stopped to eat a food drop or retrieve an article. Thought he did an amazing job staying attention-wise on track and retrieving his articles. The practice opportunities for footwork were great for me. Waited at the tall weed turn until he made his commitment. Beautiful weather, he enjoyed his “work” and found MY FATHER’s WALLET!  After a long hiatus it was a joy to be back! This past week was the first week I have been able to walk without pain . The weather has cooperated and we had a wonderfully cool AM in the 50s. I laid a track with 2 left turns , a longer leg (130) between the turns. I put food drops at 25 on the first leg, at 25 and 75 ob the second leg and again at 25 on the third leg. Bison Bits which he loves-he ate no food drops. Put an article at 50 on the longer 2nd leg which he found and retrieved. He also picked up and retrieved the final article. I tried to be very conscious of not moving my feet until he committed at the start and at each turn/correction to track. I called him back to the track after he was staring away from the track.
