Fall #19
Goal of track: to work turns. The track aged 50 minutes, the most age any of his tracks have had. Food drops were randomized as suggested. Some were eaten some walked over. We had not worked at this site for 2 months but neither newness nor age of track seemed to make a difference. The start was strong. Marked the first turn with a clip. He worked the turn first to left then turned right. 2nd turn was at a broken branch marker. Another right turn. This one he overshot and came back. Last turn was in line with a yard ornament. A left turn that he took right away. Tracking between turns was on for the most part. When he’d get off, I’d get in behind him and he’d come back on.
Sounds excellent. Let’s try staring at your toes at the turns and see how he does. You know where the turn is, and the direction, so you can feel him take it….and staring at your feet helps prevent accidental cues (we all give them, it’s part of being human)
ReplyDeleteyour maps look awesome emaline and your consistent use of land marks for turns will make you a better track layer! sounds like otis is doing well. judi's remarks on looking at your feet compliment my 'pay the line without moving your feet', then when he commits - go with, and hustle up the line to keep it at 10 feet.
